Revival of Love: Psonnets and Other Poems of Life, Love, and the Lord

The Other Poems
Love's Anointing

Love's banner rises ere our march unto the nations' shores
so where we step we step in faith to claim the land is ours.
Now we have laid a wedding feast, a table spread for scores.
Yes, we have beckoned many here for these the final hours.
So many we invited to partake the land's increase,
I venture that there walks among the number more than these.
Foremost the Lord we have implored to grant a word's release
that even angels unawares might come recline in ease.
Yet when at last the guests depart, the hour growing late,
the Lord remains to shadow us with His enduring grace.
For He has chosen ministers He also chose to mate.
Thus, let us pray the Lord to cover us as we embrace.
Yes, when enraptured Love's anointing pours on us afresh,
the mantle falls to minister as we become one flesh.
