Revival of Love: Psonnets and Other Poems of Life, Love, and the Lord

The Other Poems
I Have No Castle nor Estate

I have no castle nor estate,
but in the meadow of the wood,
the beasts and birds and boughs await
the vows we vow, for they are good.

The paths shall lead and hedges line
the way I want to walk with you,
till you desire to be mine,
and we shall know our love is true.

Then we shall pause amidst the grass
of sunlit meadow in the wood,
and ere that time shall ever pass,
we vow our vows, for they are good.

Our house may have no wall nor door,
and where we live, no fence nor gate,
but I should be so blessed, though poor,
to know you and to be your mate.

For I am yours, and you are mine,
and since love is eternal fruit,
our tree and berry bush and vine
all have God's love to be their root.

So be like neither beast nor bird,
but rather be my love. Believe,
and we shall live and love God's Word,
like Adam once had lived with Eve.
