I have not been to Kenya or the sub-Saharan wild,
evangelized North Africa or preached along the Nile.
I have not broken savage bread or held a starving child.
But I can be there in my heart and spirit all the while.
I have not hiked through Europe with the Gospel on my tongue
or travelled through the Orient to watch the rising Sun
arise with healing in His wings when I have preached among
the nations, our inheritance, Good News for everyone.
I have not sailed Brazilian coasts, along the Amazon,
while winning souls, persuading hearts, the Lord converting them.
But God saved me by grace so I, on that eternal dawn,
may meet and greet you all within the New Jerusalem.
And where you preach, my faithful friend, I also can be there
in charity and intercession, almsgiving and prayer.
