In the Presence of the Lord

My words have stumbled in the saying.
My prayers have crumbled in the praying.
For I am humbled now in staying
in the presence of the Lord.

I thought my words were in the speaking.
I thought my sight was in the seeking.
Alas, my heart was always breaking
in the presence of the Lord.

So speak to me no more if vainly
your tongue shall not be speaking plainly.
His Word and Spirit shall sustain me
in the presence of the Lord.
