She walks in Spirit with the Lord,
a maiden vowed in prayer.
Her hands and voice lift heavenward
to worship Jesus there.
Her psalms are ever sung anew
in tongues I have not known
of wondrous works that must be true,
which I am also shown.
With neither gold nor plaited hair
her beauty is displayed,
but by her works, she is more fair,
the works the Lord has made.
Her ways are virtuous always,
for they are not her own.
For when she reads the Word and prays,
her heart by Him is sown.
O who but Thine handmaiden, Lord,
could love Thee as she has?
What love of Thee I have procured
by loving such a lass!
