Revival of Love: Psonnets and Other Poems of Life, Love, and the Lord

The Other Poems
With Tongues We Have Forgotten

Why have we tarried so? We must address
the need for healing up what hatred rips
without the pointing of the fingertip.
We speak with curses when we used to bless.
I fear, for now we love each other less.
May God have mercy on us, lest we dip
the bread together, lest our footstep trips
into betrayals as our lips caress.

Let us with diligence seek sweet redress.
It drops as honey from your parted lips
upon my own as grievances shall slip
forgiven as contritely we confess
with tongues we have forgotten as we press
until we love ourselves, and lose our grip,
no longer satisfied with gentle sips
of passions we no longer can suppress.
