Revival of Love: Psonnets and Other Poems of Life, Love, and the Lord

Psonnets of Worship
Thy Love Is Broad

In wrath, remember mercy, O my God.
How else Thy hot displeasure shall I stand
or weather the chastisement of Thy hand?
I tremble at the fierceness of Thy rod
and quake to think if I have ever trod
upon the blood of Christ. I understand
so little of Thy love. But Thou hadst planned
that in Thy narrow way, Thy love is broad.
Restore me thus in love, lest I succumb,
as I am buffeted by fear and doubt.
Come comfort me, though Thy rebuke must come,
because my folly brought this sin about.
Forgive me in Thy mercy. Save me from
my sin before my sin shall find me out.
