Why should I any longer suck the breast,
unskillful in the word of righteousness?
When I should be a teacher, I know less
of what I need to enter into rest
than what I should have known by now. But lest
I fail through unbelief and faithlessness,
I turn my eyes to Jesus Christ and press
toward the mark so I can know His best.
I put away my childish things to grow
into the man the Lord would have you wed
so you can trust His faithfulness and know
that when I come to share your breast and bed,
I share these blessings God and you bestow,
not as a babe, but as a man instead.
