My heart rejoices when she sits with me
and saddens when she stands again to go
because I love her and our friendship so.
When will we meet again? When will I see
my friend for fellowship? When will it be?
You have ordained our love, O Lord, and know
when we will meet again, and love will grow
from friendship into courtship You decree.
Come sit with me, my love, so I may stand
to kneel before you, look into your face,
confess my love for you, and take your hand
to ask the question seasoned with God's grace.
Come marry me, and wear my wedding band.
Rejoice with me. Rejoice in our embrace!
