Our Friendship Grows

Our friendship grows, but I have one regret.
It was not planted sooner, watered more,
and trimmed with care I should have shown before
my negligence increased into a debt
forgiven, yet I shall not soon forget.
Our friendship grows, and I again implore
the Lord to bless our friendship and restore
our love into a greater friendship yet.
Our friendship, planted, watered, trimmed, and stayed
in soil good, shall grow from grounded roots
in Jesus Christ's own love, which cannot fade,
displayed upon that tree, and none refutes
our debt of love eternally was paid
so we may bear these good and loving fruits.
