My love, I know you have received the call
to preach the Gospel all across the earth
while I am called to keep the home and hearth.
May God grant me the grace and wherewithal
so, when I am discouraged, I recall
that God has granted us this wider berth
because no calling is of lesser worth.
We have surrendered and forsaken all.
Now some may say you have surrendered more
to go to other lands and preach the Word,
but when you left your countrymen, I bore
a greater burden for you in the Lord,
and I had to surrender you before
I gave up anything else I preferred.
