Revival of Love: Psonnets and Other Poems of Life, Love, and the Lord

Psonnets of Courtship
Is She a Goddess?

Is she a goddess? No! She is the lass
whose earthly beauty ravishes my heart.
But God forbid for that I should depart
the grace of God, whose glories far surpass
her image made in silver, gold, or brass.
If I sin thus, the Lord rebuke my art
and chasten me from heaven torn apart
(or with an angel speaking from an ass).
Beneath her earthly beauty, I discern
the testimony she is holding fast.
She has received that seed she could not earn
from any works she labored in the past.
Idolatries corruptible shall burn,
but then the incorruptible shall last.
