Hast Thou, Christ, come to us? What is Thy sign?
No stone is turned to bread, but bread to bread,
twelve baskets full of it, five thousand fed,
and had this not sufficed for us to dine,
what living waters turned into this wine!
Yet these will perish, so give us instead
the sign of Jonas, risen from the dead,
so we may live with Thee, forever Thine.
May we remember Thee when we partake
the Bread and Wine together as we sup,
Thy Body broken, Blood shed, for our sake,
Thy flesh indeed, blood truly in our cup,
yet shed and broken, may our bond not break
as all are drawn to Thee, Christ lifted up.
