How I so long for Jesus to abide
in me as true as He abides in you,
substantially and evidently true.
And so I buy of Jesus gold so tried
and raiment white to be His bride,
anoint my eyes, which open up anew,
and fruitfully replenish and subdue
my heart with love I do not want to hide.
Christ Jesus does not want to hide in me
like man and woman hid among the trees,
and if I try to hide, I find that Tree
where I repented, fell upon my knees,
and asked Christ to abide in me and be
as you have been unto the least of these.
