Revival of Love: Psonnets and Other Poems of Life, Love, and the Lord

Psonnets of Worship
I Gave Thee Thy Request

Behold, my Love, I had a single pound,
a gift of grace through faith I could not save
except I give it Thee; therefore, I gave,
and as I did abase, Thou didst abound,
and when I seemed to lose, behold, I found
a deeper love with Thee, because we clave
the closer than had I one pound and drave
it far from Thee and deep into the ground.
Now given Thee, have I one farthing less?
I have discovered where two sparrows nest,
a mustard seed grown to a tree I dress
beside the vine's and fig's and olive's best
till not a single pound, but ten will bless
our love because I gave Thee Thy request.
