I Am a Child

A prophet to the nations is ordained
before God forms him in his mother's womb,
a little child who no one would assume
could speak the Word of God with faith unfeigned
and stand and walk in promises obtained
because the Lord has given him the room
to go unto the nations, all of whom
as Jesus Christ's inheritance are gained.
I am a child, O Lord, a child of God,
and will not say, "Behold, I am a child,
and cannot speak or hold a shepherd's rod,"
but I will go, although I am reviled,
unto the nations with the Gospel shod
on feet that You have washed and reconciled.
