I am a virgin, O my love, and choose
to give you my virginity unstained
because, once given, it is not regained.
Yet what I give to you, I will not lose
because you will be mine, and I am whose?
I will be yours, my bride. I have abstained,
but we will love each other unrestrained
in every way in which we now refuse.
A gift is better given than received,
but better to receive this with a vow,
for I love you and want to be believed,
to marry you and tell our children how
a gift was given when I was conceived,
virginity I want to give you now.
