The day I ask for you, what shall I say?
If we are slow to speak our hearts' desires
and quick to hear whatever God requires,
then I shall ask the question in that day,
and you shall answer me, and we shall pray,
and God shall answer what our prayer inquires,
that He still lead our love as He inspires,
neither into temptation nor astray.
Our spirits willing till our flesh is weak,
when God has answered us, then we are near
unto our wedding day, when we shall seek,
with both a seeing eye and hearing ear,
to speak our love, which we were slow to speak,
and hear our love, which we are quick to hear.
