I love you, and I want to marry you,
but have I not loved you as faithfully
as you would want a man of God to be?
You may not say as much, but it is true.
My weaknesses are many, strengths too few.
But when I pray, although infrequently,
I pray that you one day may think of me
as husband, father of your children, too.
I asked you once. You prayerfully inquired,
a faithful steward of my offerings.
I may be given what I have desired
if I am faithful in the little things.
This much is given: Much will be required,
much more than promises and wedding rings.
