I want to write more poetry for God,
more praise and worship for the King of Kings,
and take no thought about these earthly things,
and seek His kingdom first, lest I defraud;
His righteousness, lest any man applaud
my gifts and talents as my spirit sings
when all I have is given me and springs
from Jesus Christ, of Whom my soul is awed.
I give no earthly thanks to greet your gift
and blow no trumpet to announce your alms,
but faithful stewardship and godly thrift
so bless your gift, received by open palms,
that I may write His praises more and lift
up Jesus Christ in sonnets, songs, and psalms.
