The vagrant waits, but cannot board the bus
bound for the better boroughs, so they hound
him since nowhere on schedules can be found
blessed destinations for poor Lazarus;
therefore, police and personnel discuss
in court a prison cell where he is bound
because none want the destitute around
their corner. No, he cannot live with us.
And none will see him seated in first class,
where airline fare surpasses what he eats,
but one may see him standing at the glass,
before his soul is sent back to the streets,
there coveting the rich man's boarding pass
and wanting to eat crumbs beneath the seats.
