Should I still lead you on, then I would rob
rewards of spotless treasures meant for one
whose destiny your courtship would have won.
Although our passions cause our souls to throb,
our pleasures soon would end as we would sob
in knowing what our haste would leave undone
when we, who longed for love, remain with none,
with only wounds to heal and tears to daub.
O God forbid we walk as we shall will,
but by Another may our hearts be led
into the Passion with His Son until
the Father's perfect will alone can wed
two destinies with longings to fulfill
His bless'ed union in the marriage bed.
