I love you now. If I will love you still,
Christ Jesus says, "I am." I say, "I do,"
not by my will, but His. I will love you.
How could I love by any other will?
The cross awaits me, high upon the hill,
two crosses waiting for the thieves there, too,
if I should steal away or steal your due.
This cup will not pass till I drink my fill.
As long as we shall live, we live, not I,
for I must decrease so love will increase,
and wherever we live, myself must die
for us to live with love, and joy, and peace,
yet lives, not I, but Christ, as I deny
myself, take up the cross, and then decease.
