Was I mistaken when we met, my dear?
Have I been wrong? Have I misunderstood
your mannerisms, maladies, and mood?
Asked I amiss? If it has been unclear
how much I have enjoyed you being here,
then I apologize, for it is rude
if I have not loved you as Jesus would,
and without Him, I should not interfere.
But can I be mistaken if we meet
if this is what the Lord would have me share?
If God had had me walk another street;
if He had had my passions be elsewhere,
then it is certain we would never greet,
and I could never lift your name in prayer.
