Your friend and father's friend do not forsake
because she is the friend your Father gave
and one His Son had come to seek and save.
I ask, not for her own, but for His sake,
if she shall sin and cause your heart to ache,
forgive her whom our Father first forgave
when she believed on Jesus Christ and clave
to Him in love no other could awake.
And in the day of your calamity,
I pray our friendship, too, would not depend
on being earthly friends or family.
As you are one our Father sought to send,
so I have thought of you with amity.
She is my friend, and you, my Father's friend.
