I opened up my heart, but none came in
to sit and sup with me except my Lord.
Yet I, so destitute, could not afford
to set a meal before Him in my sin.
Was it enough that I had opened, then,
because He is the Living Bread and Word,
the hidden manna I had not preferred
before my heart had opened up to Him?
The heart of Jesus opened up and bled,
and when I opened, Jesus came to me
and set on fleshly tables broken bread
that healed my brokenness eternally.
I broke that Bread, but I am comforted
that He would let it break so openly.
