What foolish, hurtful lusts have driven me!
I did not know lust, but the law has said,
"Thou shalt not covet." I have coveted
to take from you what should be given me
through Christ, if I will let Him live in me;
thus, I have died as Christ has died, and dead
am raised up unto life in Him instead.
Forgive me as He has forgiven me.
If I will love, not covet you, and give
you what I rather would have taken of
your spirit, soul, and body, God forbid
I set desire for you up above
His love for you, whom Christ died to forgive.
If not for Christ, I would not know of love.
