What God has given me, I have possessed
and built a wall around the former waste,
preparing for my chosen one and chaste
a vineyard planted, watered, kept, and dressed
so when the grapes are gathered up and pressed,
the wine will taste so new, our every taste
will lead our lips to drink again with haste
once what we drink together has been blessed.
So I will save the choicest of the choice
till you and I may drink the best of this
after we speak one promise with one voice
so love may linger on our lips with bliss
and joy and gladness. How we will rejoice
because no wine is better than our kiss!
