Revival of Love: Psonnets and Other Poems of Life, Love, and the Lord

Psonnets of Worship
My Bible Is the Scabbard

My Bible is the scabbard of the Word of God
which He through history mysteriously leaved
and bound, a mystery that no man has conceived,
this sword two-edged, no jot or tittle flawed,
but over which the heads of young and old men nod.
Awake, my soul. Open your eyes. The Spirit grieved
that I take leave, the Scripture sheathed, to be deceived
with Godless entertainments, curious and odd.
Come look upon the pages of the Spirit's blade.
Beyond this paper glows the light of shining steel.
Now you will see the man of God that God has made.
The very Son of God reflected will reveal
His purposes with you, of which you are afraid,
but which, if you will eat, will eat you up with zeal.
