A west wind blows across the desert sands
because one greater than the son of Amittai
patrols the highways Jonah walked to prophesy,
and you will preach the Gospel in those lands,
the prophecy of Nahum carried in your hands,
obedient before your Lord to occupy,
and whoever will not live free will die.
This parable our soldier understands.
Such is a saying dark, and darkly seen,
and whether you abide in palaces or tents,
your testimony flows wherever you have been,
the stars above and sands beneath as testaments,
and blesses soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines
till Nineveh is born again and Babylon repents.
