This seed has fallen to the ground and died
and grown up in good soil, which is tilled,
and grain is harvested and threshed and milled,
then leavened, kneaded, baked, and set aside,
the shewbread of remembrance Christ supplied,
this broken bread, which shows how He was killed,
this risen bread, which shows our Father willed
that Christ arise three days after He died.
With violence has this grain grown in the ground,
and beaten, baked, and broken has this bread
passed through the fan and fire to be found
the Eucharist we peaceably have spread,
that we may break the bread of peace around
our common table, where our faith is fed.
