I am American, and do not serve a queen,
yet if I served a queen, then Queen Elizabeth
would be the queen I serve, and in its breadth,
Great Britain as my kingdom, British Isles unseen,
since soldiers British and American must lean
on one another now in matters life and death,
nobility and liberty and honour in each breath.
Thus, let us pray together God will intervene.
We stand, United Kingdom and United States,
united at the front, and thenceforth, we defend
the Colonies and Commonwealth from ancient hates
since we, who hated you, consider you our friend,
and I thank God my countrymen have joined our fates
with England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
