Were two? or were three gathered when we ate?
For I am one, and you, though two, are one,
the joining of God's daughter with God's son,
the fellowship of husband with his mate.
I pray I also marry. What awaits?
I often think of you, what God has done,
the good work He already has begun,
this covenant Christ Jesus mediates.
For I am one, and two as one are wed,
yet gathering invoked this mystery,
that three as one have blessed and broken bread
in Jesus, Son of God the Trinity;
that members of one Body with one Head
can gather in His Name with unity.
