Why do I court you? God has foreordained
we walk in works this good, and we allow
the Lord to lead our love, for this is how
our love bears fruit, and our fruit will remain
untouched and undefiled as we abstain
from all appearances of evil now
and then appear in covenant, and vow,
and promises His presence will sustain.
I do not want to marry you and part,
so let our love and courtship be kept pure,
and all the thoughts and intents of my heart
will be knit with your heart in love, for sure
to love you, twain, is more than I impart;
to not love you, more than I can endure.
