Wise and Waiting

You are the rose of Sharon in full bloom,
the apple tree among the pleasant wood,
Who comforts me with apples, sweet and good,
because Your Father's banquethouse has room
preparing chief and chosen seats - for whom?
for ones who washed their garments in Your blood
and tribulations faithfully withstood;
for virgins wise and waiting for the Groom.
I take the Word, the lamp unto my feet,
and fill it with the oil of gladness, too,
and now await the time when we shall meet,
and if I sleep, Your coming shall renew
and raise me up into the chosen seat
where I shall sit in light - in love with You.
