I have a friend whom others may call blind,
but sun and moon and stars are lesser light
because she walks by faith, and not by sight,
and with her faith and friendship one will find
Christ Jesus King, compassionate and kind,
who lights her path and sets her steps aright
in daylight and in darkness of the night.
She neither lacks nor has been left behind.
You are not blind, whose eyes are closed in prayer,
so pray for me to see and truly see,
that when I see the hurting, I will care
for them as I would have them care for me,
lest I should turn my eyes away or stare
and would not be who Christ would have me be.
